Laser Support

Welcome to P. Graham Dunn laser support.  Use the sidebar menu on the right to find tutorials, files, videos, discussions and more.  Additionally you may add comments and content to any of these pages, sharing your experiences with others.  It is said that a rising tide floats all ships.  Working together we will continue to make the process of laser engraving easier to learn and take the program to greater heights.

Are you priced right?

When was the last time you spent time assessing prices throughout your store?  Many times you will find that product that once was thought to be a dud, turns out to be anything but when the price is right.  This is especially so with your personalization business.  Identify products that are not getting the turns you would like and adjust the price and/or place where it is merchandised.  Additionally drive quantity sales by bundling some of the lower priced product.  Soy candles could be 3 for $9.99 or bundle up bookmarks, yo-yo's, whistles, etc.  A strong example would be children's toys.  If you are getting a whistle for one grandchild, you almost have to for the rest.  And don't forget to promote these bundles through signage and advertising!

Important reminder:

DO NOT put your laser machine, smoke machine, and computer on a "power strip" with a circuit breaker unless absolutely necessary! You run the risk of tripping the surge protector's breaker, which can stop your laser in the middle of running a file. This data cannot be recovered, and can ruin expensive product stock. Try to run the laser machine on it's own circuit (at least 15 amps.)

Laser College

Would you like a refresher course on laser engraving?  Do you have some new hires that could use a little training?  Would you like to learn some tips and tricks to improve your engraving business?  We have begun to put together an extensive collection of information and resources for engraving.  Each subject is broken out so you don't have to thumb through a big manual to get the information you need.  Videos are embedded in the material for visual demonstrations.  And the whole curriculum is Wiki, which means we all can collaborate on the material.  Check back from time to time as we add more classes and information.  Click here or Laser University on the sidebar.

Looking for Ideas?

A great place to look for ideas to include on your layouts is Quote Garden.  This is a website that has all sorts of suggestions for topics such as retirement, graduations, birthdays, love, friendship, and even taxes!  Make samples for special occasions like wedding season, and graduation time.  If inclined, use the quotation tool in Gravostyle (looks like a dollar sign) to count and charge per letter on layout changes.  Select the text, click the dollar sign, and enter the per letter charge to calculate.  Don't forget that you can use copy and paste to change your text quickly and with less chance of mistakes.  Quote Garden makes it even easier to design a gift for any occasion!  ~Joe Knutson
